Kids will love this one-of-a-kind journey through more that 16,000 years of Texas’ fascinating past, up to Mexican independence in 1821. This fully interactive environment in the first-floor gallery tells the story of the state’s history. From using a bow and arrow, to interacting with Le Salle’s 17th century sailing ship La Belle through augmented reality, kids on a field trip will delight in following in the footsteps of Texas’ ancestors.
Rock out at Austin City Limits Theatre
This exhibit celebrates Texas’ legendary status in the rock music scene and the significance of the Austin City Limits TV show. This theatre installation puts kids by the stage in front of countless music icons. Austin City Limits was the longest running music program in American TV history. This rocking exhibit presents must-see performances by Sheryl Crow, Radiohead, Lyle Lovett and Loretta Lynn. Field trip explorers can get up-close view of artefacts from the TV show itself like the ACL neon sign.

Perhaps most astonishing of all is The Bullock Museum’s mind-boggling array of artefacts documenting the state’s fascinating past. Budding astronauts should check out Gene Cernan’s Astronaut Maneuvering Unit (AMU) jet pack he used on his 1966 spacewalk.
